The Light That Cannot Be Put Out

The Light That Cannot Be Put Out

You catch me by surprise each and every time.

You and Your ways.

I thought I had stopped thinking about You.

I feared that thought alone.

You weren’t in the books I read.

They weren’t even about You.

Then Lincoln said this:

phonto-1And it was Your voice I heard.

I broke down.

“Thank You” and tears were my only prayers.

There is never a moment that You don’t recognize me.

You see me through and through.

status: Vulnerable

I don’t think it’s mere coincidence why I am constantly yearning to read Brene Brown’s Daring Greatly now. Last night I thought: We read to see the words converge a meaning reflected at ourselves.

I fear the darkness that is so slowly dimming the lights. Last night, I read from the book about a point that was related to the Defense of the Dark Arts teacher(s) in the Harry Potter books. I thought…

All Hands

All Hands

Tired and discontented eyes.

Aching fingers stretched—

either to gracelessly emulate the movement of the fire and the moth,

or to dance in freestyle to a silent song on paper,

or to tap and press, click and scroll—

these hands are stretched beyond its will.

I fold and hold these hands,

press my palms together,

and hold them close to my beating heart.

I know Whose Hands can touch the ache away.

in my heart, You shine eternal sunbeams.

“One of the beautiful things with the right attitude is that, with it, every day has sunshine.”

~ Chuck Swindoll

Reading that line today from his devotional, strengthened my hope in my daily morning prayers:

To have the eyes to see how You want me to see

a prayer to dispose the self

Reblogged from Into the Sun:

Father God,

Release me from my self-centeredness—from everything that makes me regard about my self. If I must, then teach me to be honest about myself, knowing and becoming confident that whatever the revelation, You accept…

Ravi Zacharias: With Gentleness and Respect

No amount of law is going to change the person’s heart. It has to be the love of Christ and the proclamation of the gospel without making the person the object of that discrimination. We preach the gospel. We preach God’s values. But we must always keep…

The Gospel According to You ~ Leroy Brownlow

There’s a Gospel according to Matthew; To Mark;
To Luke; and John too.
There’s another gospel that many are reading…
The Gospel according to You.

All teachings we find in the Bible
Are facts we know to be true;
You must live them to make them the Gospel…

Resonating the Pause

When you encounter words like these in the book you’re reading (emphasis mine):

Perhaps it’s not silence we’re encountering while we seek God, but rather a pregnant pause—a prompting to engage in personal reflection so that the deepest of answers, the…

"…make it you…

“…make it your ambition to lead a quiet life: You should mind your own business and work with your hands, just as we told you, so that your daily life may win the respect of outsiders and so that you will not be dependent on anybody.”
